Tami’s Story
Hormones play a crucial role in nearly every aspect of daily life, including sleep, digestion, metabolism, stress management, and energy levels. While estrogen and testosterone are commonly associated with hormones, there are many others that are equally important. As we age, natural shifts in hormone levels can lead to conditions like menopause and andropause.
Maintaining balanced hormone levels is key to anti-aging and overall well-being. Adequate hormone levels support essential bodily functions and nutrient production, which are vital for both physical and mental health.
In essence, hormones influence the rate at which we age. Declining hormone levels can lead to symptoms often associated with aging, such as bone loss, depression, anxiety, confusion, joint pain, poor sleep, reduced muscle mass, and decreased libido. By addressing these imbalances, hormone therapy can be a valuable solution for maintaining a youthful and vibrant quality of life.
My own experience with hormone replacement therapy led to the creation of Tampa Bay Total Wellness. In 2012, I sought treatment for hormonal depletion, recognizing its link to aging. My initial experience was disappointing; after waiting 45 minutes, I spent only 10 minutes with the provider, who prescribed testosterone cream and an injectable without explanation. Confused and dissatisfied, I turned to online information and eventually tried synthetic hormones, despite their risks.
The turning point came when I visited another facility for aesthetic services. They checked my blood work and recommended Bio-Identical pellet therapy. Within four days, I felt a profound improvement in my overall well-being, far beyond my expectations. This transformation inspired me to establish a clinic focused on providing high-quality, patient-centered care.
At Tampa Bay Total Wellness, we prioritize education, knowledge sharing, and excellence. We offer the best quality products, stay on the cutting edge of technology and science, and adhere to the safest protocols. Our commitment is to create a welcoming environment where clients feel at home.
I am deeply grateful to everyone I’ve met on this journey. Your support and trust have been invaluable, making our work truly rewarding.
Menopause marks the end of your menstrual cycle and is diagnosed after you’ve gone 12 months without a menstrual period. The average age a women reaches menopause in the United States is 51; however, the natural biological process can happen in your 40s or 50s. Surgical menopause can occur at any age if the ovaries are removed.
Women in menopause (or peri-menopause) may experience:
Hypoandrogenism is diminished gonad (ovaries/testicles) function and can happen in both males and females. In females, the low testosterone results in diminished sex hormone biosynthesis and can happen at any age.
Women may experience:
Andropause (Low-T), or male menopause, is a gradual depletion of testosterone. As men get older, the level of testosterone in the body and production of sperm gradually decrease, and they experience physical and psychological symptoms as a result of these low levels. This is part of the natural aging process, and it is estimated that testosterone decreases about 10% every decade after a man reaches the age of 30. Stress, illness and other environmental factors may cause symptoms and depletion to be seen in males by the age of 20.
Symptoms of Andropause may include:
There are many hormones in your body – all important for various reasons. These four hormones are often problematic.
Estrogen or oestrogen, is a category of sex hormone responsible for the development and regulation of the female reproductive system and secondary sex characteristics. There are three major endogenous estrogens that have estrogenic hormonal activity: estrone, estradiol, and estriol.
Restoring estrogen helps:
Testosterone is a vital hormone for both men and women, playing a crucial role in overall health and well-being. In men, testosterone is the primary sex hormone and anabolic steroid, essential for the development of male reproductive tissues like the testes and prostate, as well as promoting secondary sexual characteristics such as increased muscle and bone mass, and the growth of body hair.
In women, testosterone is equally important. It contributes to health and vitality, including mood regulation, energy levels, and the prevention of osteoporosis. Many women in their mid-30s begin testosterone supplementation to address hormonal imbalances. After menopause, therapy often includes a combination of testosterone and estrogen to maintain optimal health and well-being.
Testosterone therapy is a key component in maintaining a balanced and healthy life for both men and women, ensuring they feel their best at every stage.
Restoring testosterone helps:
Progesterone (P4) is an endogenous steroid and progestogen sex hormone involved in the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, and embryogenesis of humans and other species. It belongs to a group of steroid hormones called the progestogens and is the major progestogen in the body. Progesterone has a variety of important functions in the body. Also, it is a crucial metabolic intermediate in the production of other endogenous steroids, including the sex hormones and the corticosteroids, and plays an important role in brain function as a neurosteroid.
Restoring progesterone helps:
Thyroid hormones are two hormones produced and released by the thyroid gland, namely triiodothyronine and thyroxine (T3 andT4).
Restoring thyroid hormones helps:
Like many hormones, HGH levels decrease as a person gets older. Every function of our body is initiated by the release of hormones from the related gland. Because GH oversees all of those, research shows maintaining healthy Growth Hormone levels is the first step to ensuring better biological and system functions.
Growth Hormone is the master hormone. It regulates other glandular secretions better when its levels are optimal. Safeguarding optimum levels is the best way to maintain a healthy and well-functioning body.
Restoring HGH helps:
Melatonin is not just for sleep. Studies show that low dose melatonin (0.3mg) have many anti-aging benefits. Melatonin was shown to extend the lifespan of fruits flies by 33%. 1 Melatonin is a hormone that your brain produces in response to darkness. It helps with the timing of your circadian rhythms (24-hour internal clock) and with sleep
Restoring Melatonin helps:
DHEA levels naturally start to decline after the age of 30, which is precisely when many adults start to experience weight gain, sluggishness, lowered libido and other symptoms caused by higher levels of inflammation.
Considered to be one of the most rapidly-decreasing hormones in the human body, it pays to hold onto all the DHEA that you can.
DHEA works like a natural anabolic steroid, since it boosts production of natural growth hormones that help build lean muscle mass and fight fat accumulation. That’s why the supplement form is popular among athletes and bodybuilders.
Restoring DHEA helps:
Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is LIFE saving! Different than synthetic hormones, bio-identical hormones are identical to the same hormones your body makes. The plant-based hormones are a safe and natural solution to the hormonal depletion that naturally occurs over time.
Both men and women can safely inject hormones to obtain Therapeutic blood levels for hormonal deficiencies. The therapeutic levels obtained with this form of administration mimic the body’s own natural hormone production.
Specially compounded RDT’s, rapid dissolving tablets, uncommon, and troches release hormones by saliva into the bloodstream.
Many hormones can be compounded into an oral tablet or capsule. Examples of these hormones would be progesterone and or thyroid hormones.
A topical patch applied once or twice a week that administers estradiol.
Hormone topical cream/gels allow the right dose of hormones to be absorbed through the skin and into the blood stream.
(Available In-office Only)
Hormone pellets are a specific form of delivery for bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) that uses tiny pellets inserted just under the skin, releasing natural forms of estrogen and/or testosterone to balance hormones over 3-4 months.
